Greetings, this is Mrs. Taylor, proud principal of Warren Central High School!

What a wonderful first 2 days of school. I look forward to our first full week. This Monday will be a Gold Day. Students should be prepared to attend their 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th period classes. Students can find signage throughout the building reminding them of the day's color. Please remember that if your student is in possession of their student ID & Lanyard they should be wearing their Lanyard around their necks. Wearing their IDs as they move throughout the building is one of our safety measures and ensures we know who is in our building at all times. As students enter the building from buses or cars they will be asked to have on their IDs and take out their Chromebooks. Additionally, all students are being scanned utilizing our Evolv units as they enter the building. This too is one of our safety measures ensuring that students and staff are safe within our learning environment. Students who have not had their ID pictures taken are being issued temporary IDs and will have a chance to have their pictures taken this Friday, August 2nd. Students are also being called down throughout the day to pick up Chromebooks if they have not been issued theirs.

As always, attendance at school is important. It is the expectation that students are present every day and actively participate in their learning. Please make sure if your student is not in attendance that their absence is communicated to the school by calling the attendance line or bringing in a note upon your students return. We are still implementing our attendance protocol where students meeting certain attendance criteria will receive letters, phone calls, and requests for conferences depending on their number of absences. Data shows that students who attend school regularly are more successful academically. We appreciate your support in making sure your student is in attendance. Additionally, poor school attendance may impact your student's ability to participate in extracurricular activities and events.

Lastly, please note that at no time should students be dropped off or picked up along 16th Street. This is a huge safety concern. Students being dropped off should be dropped off at Door 21 between 6:45-7:15 via 18th Street. Please take advantage of the sunshine and daylight and instead of sitting in the car rider line if you arrive between 6:30-6:45 release your student and allow them to wait at the entrance. This will allow for fewer cars lined up and help clear the backup on 18th Street. Also, once you hit the sidewalk along the drop offline if safe you may release your student rather than waiting to drop in front of the door. This will allow for the line to move quickly.

As always thank you for all you do to support the school and your students. I look forward to meeting many of you in person at our August 8, Back To School Night!

Have a great evening!
