A new restaurant has recently opened up called La Casa de las Sopas, which has a primary focus on selling soup. Providing an excellent level of service and hospitality, it is very worthwhile and will not leave its customers disappointed.
The restaurant is listed as a Latino family-owned business with a fairly small menu compared to most restaurants. The menu has 11 different soups to choose from, with dry meats and seafood also being available.
They also offer a wide variety of drinks from canned sodas to aguas frescas, also known as freshwaters, like horchata, agua de melon and agua de piña. On Jan. 14, I had the opportunity to try their “Sopa de Res” also known as Mexican beef soup that comes with a small cup of rice and three handmade tortillas.
The sopa de res was rich and flavorful and included zucchini, carrots, green beans, potatoes, beef lime and squash, with the sopa being large enough that customers can even share it between two people. With that there is one downside, which is the price point being a lot higher than most places coming in at around $75 for two people.
The restaurant is located where Weebles Bar and Grill had been previously at 3725 Shadeland Ave. This restaurant is also a great place to bring friends and family with a kids menu also being available. Due to its size, visitors can plan ahead and set a reservation online or just simply walk in.
The restaurant also provided an exquisite amount of seating. Having a large amount of tables that are available helps cut down on potential wait times.
With Valentine’s Day being around the corner this is also a perfect little spot to go on a date, especially if you and your partner like soup. They also have the option to order online for anyone who may prefer to order in instead of going and dining out at a restaurant.
Overall I rate this restaurant a 9.5 out of 10, with the only downside of the price being a lot higher than many restaurants.
