Jila Vaden Long Jumping

On April 13, the Warren Central girls track team will be traveling to Fishers to compete at the Hamilton Southeastern High School Relays. The team is excited to be participating at the meet once again, after finding a lot of success there in past seasons.

Last season at this event, the Lady Warriors set multiple meet records that they are hoping to beat again. Seniors Jila Vaden and Laila Smith set the meet record for the long jump relay, and they went on to place second and third in the state for the long jump. Smith also set the meet record for the 300-meter hurdles, in which she placed third at the state finals last season.

“Me and Laila have been seen as a double threat in the long jump relay since our jumps will be combined during this meet,” Vaden said.

The weather will certainly have an impact on the performance of the Lady Warriors, along with the other teams competing. The forecast currently predicts temperatures in the mid 60s with few clouds, making it a perfect day for a track meet, according to many athletes.

All who are interested in supporting the Lady Warriors in this big competition are encouraged to go and show their support.

“It has always been a fun meet, and I am very excited to compete in it one more time,” Smith said.
