Taylor Swift is releasing a new album called “The Tortured Poets Department” on April 19. Swift made this announcement onstage after winning her 13th Grammy on February 4. She has released 11 original albums in all and re-released four of those, which brings her to 15 albums in the past 18 years. With the promising track list titles and the rumors that are surrounding what this album will be focusing on, this will surely be a great album to listen to.

Swift is known for writing about her personal experiences and relationships, so when Swift announced the release of her new album, media and fans thought the title was very similar to her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s group chat called “The Tortured Man Club.” Media and fans are speculating that this album is going to be about her relationship with Alwyn, how she felt throughout it and how she felt after it. The day she intends to release this album is the anniversary of the day Swift went to dinner with her friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. After the dinner, Lively and Reynolds swiftly unfollowed Alwyn on Instagram.

This album differs from the others in that the color scheme used in this album specifically is much darker than the rest of Swift's albums. Many of them have much more color, with “Reputation” and “folklore” being exceptions. The scene these colors have set for the new album is a dark and melancholic one. In addition to the base album, Swift has also announced four editions that each have one bonus track. In the announcements of these various editions, the coloring on the album has become darker and darker. Some are speculating that the colors used in the album and its extra versions represent the five stages of grief with the shades.

The track list contains features such as “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, and “Florida!!!” featuring Florence + the Machine. The tracklist also includes songs titled “So Long, London,” “But Daddy I Love Him” and “Fresh Out the Slammer.”

There is speculation that this album will be even more poetic than Swift's other albums. She is known for having very deep lyrics in many of her songs, and her announcement has a lot of language referencing poetry, in addition to the name itself.

Swift is currently on her international leg of the Eras Tour, which has shattered records and become the highest-grossing concert of all time, garnering more than one billion dollars, according to reporting from Rolling Stone.

This album is sure to be popular with Swift’s steadfast fans and people who are interested in poetry.“The Tortured Poets Department” can be found on Apple Music and Spotify on April 19. The vinyl, cassette, CD and digital album formats are available to preorder.
